An unknown user has purchased the non-fungible token (NFT) CryptoPunk #5577 for 2,501 ETH (over $7.8 million).

Notably, this is the third largest deal in the history of the collection.

Twitter users have congratulated DeFi Compound protocol founder Robert Leshner on the NFT acquisition. However, he has not confirmed it is he who has purchased CryptoPunk #5577.

The Larva Labs team launched in 2017 the CryptoPunks collection, which consists of 10,000 images in NFT format with a size of 24×24 pixels. Initially, many of the project’s non-fungible tokens were distributed for free.

Auction house Sotheby’s has recently announced the sale of a set of 104 NFTs belonging to the CryptoPunks collection.
