Polygon Launches a Zero-Knowledge Proof-Based Identity Service

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Blockchain project Polygon has launched an identity service that allows users to authenticate users while keeping sensitive data private.

Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic has said on the launch:

“We are announcing the launch of Polygon ID, the first zero-knowledge proof-based sovereign identity system. Polygon aims to become the de facto platform for Web3 development.”

The platform uses iden3, a decentralized zero-knowledge proof-based identity protocol, a technology that allows users to verify data that remains encrypted and hidden from the relying party.

The project developers believe Polygon ID is a new step in the development of on-chain authentication, since the solution eliminates the need to use centralized intermediary services.
