The team of developers behind the Ethereum blockchain have just announced the launch of a public testnet on February 7 to test the Shanghai-Capella update.

According to them, the main function of the update is to open access to the withdrawal of funds from Ethereum staking, which implements EIP-4895.

The team is currently clearing the last technical obstacles to implement the update. After the upgrade is launched on the Sepolia testnet in March, the new functionality will be tested in Goerli.

The developers have said that this will be the last check before implementing the code into the main network.

The developers launched devnet in November to test the function of withdrawing cryptocurrencies from the Ethereum deposit contract by validators.
