X Temporarily Limits Access to Former Binance CEO Account

In late November, the social networking platform X unexpectedly restricted the account of Changpeng Zhao, the former CEO of Binance, without giving a reason.

Fortunately, the issue has since been resolved. Zhao joked that the ban was triggered by his attempt to tweet a festive message for Thanksgiving.

It seems that the automatic bot detection algorithm of the platform needs improvement, as it mistakenly targeted a real person instead of detecting a spam bot.

This incident comes shortly after Binance reached a settlement with the US Department of Justice, agreeing to pay $4.3 billion in fines amid ongoing investigations into the company’s practices.

As part of the deal, Zhao will also step down as CEO and plead guilty to charges of money laundering, financial fraud, and sanctions violations.
