SEC Puts Off its Decision on Bitcoin ETF Options Trading
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced that it will extend its evaluation period for the New York Stock Exchange’s proposal to introduce options trading for Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
This development, which was announced on April 8, 2024, will directly affect options trading for assets such as the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) and the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) listed on the NYSE. Options trading in the cryptocurrency market offers a valuable advantage by minimizing traders’ risk.
Unlike spot trading, where traders could potentially lose their entire investment if the market moves against them, options trading limits losses to the premium paid for the option in case the market moves unfavorably.
