SEC Will Likely Reject Ethereum ETFs Launch

Asset managers and other firms are anticipating the rejection of spot Ethereum ETF applications by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

This comes after disappointing discussions between the two parties. In meetings with the SEC, issuers argued that the approval of futures-based ETFs in October 2023 should set a precedent for spot products.

However, the regulator’s employees did not comment or ask questions, leading insiders to believe that the current ETF applications will not be approved due to a lack of constructive dialogue.

According to chief stock analyst at VettaFi, Todd Rosenbluth, it is likely that the approval of spot ETH-ETFs will be delayed until late 2024 or longer.

Some issuers are still planning to submit additional disclosure documents and continue discussions with the SEC.
