BlackRock Obtains Registration as Crypto Firm in UK
BlackRock has successfully entered the Financial Conduct Authority’s stringent crypto register, as shown on the regulator’s website on Tuesday.
The world’s largest asset manager is now authorized to act as an arranger for iShares Digital Assets AG, which issues Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) linked to crypto assets.
Gaining a spot on the UK’s crypto register is challenging. Established in 2020, the register ensures that crypto firms serving UK clients comply with the country’s anti-money laundering regulations. Out of 368 applications, only 51 firms have been approved.
As an arranger, BlackRock can facilitate the execution of crypto asset transactions to support ETP subscriptions and redemptions between issuers and authorized participants, but it cannot onboard new customers.
