A bill proposing the establishment of a state Bitcoin reserve was passed by the New Hampshire House of Representatives on Thursday.

New Hampshire Bill HB302, which would allow the state treasury to invest in precious metals and digital assets, passed with a narrow margin of 192 votes in favor and 179 against. The bill now advances to the New Hampshire Senate.

“We’re connected to the U.S. dollar, but this measure would enable the state to invest a small portion in a new, uncorrelated asset class,” said New Hampshire Representative and bill sponsor Keith Ammon.
