Tron’s USDT Supply to Surpass Ethereum’s

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Tether has minted an additional $1 billion USDT on the Tron network, surpassing Ethereum in both authorized and circulating supply.

This shift not only alters the dominance among blockchains but also signals a strategic change in liquidity flow within the digital asset market.

With this new minting, Tron now holds $74.7 billion in authorized USDT, slightly overtaking Ethereum’s $74.5 billion. Tron’s circulating supply of USDT stands at $73.6 billion, surpassing Ethereum’s $71.8 billion.

This milestone establishes Tron as the leading blockchain for stablecoin issuance, a title previously held by Ethereum.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has emphasized that such large mints are for inventory rebalancing, rather than market flooding, allowing for future issuance requests and cross-chain swaps.
