Senate Greenlights GENIUS Act, Paving the Way for Crypto Leadership
In a major win for crypto regulation, the US Senate voted 68-30 to pass the GENIUS Act—bringing the country closer to a clear framework for stablecoins.
The bill, spearheaded by Sen. Bill Hagerty, had previously hit a snag in May amid political tensions over Trump-linked crypto ventures. Now, with bipartisan backing, it moves forward as the House prepares to debate its companion bill, the STABLE Act.
“No more waiting days for payments—this is about speed, innovation, and American dominance in crypto,” Hagerty proclaimed ahead of the vote.
The Trump family’s stake in World Liberty Financial, which issued a stablecoin in March, had drawn scrutiny, but today’s vote signals growing acceptance of digital assets in Washington.
