Trump Calls on House to Pass GENIUS Stablecoin Act After Senate Approval
President Donald Trump has urged the House of Representatives to swiftly pass the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, following its approval in the Senate earlier this week.
In a Truth Social post on Thursday, Trump praised the bill, calling it “an incredible step toward making America the undisputed leader in digital assets.” He demanded the House move quickly, stating, “Get it to my desk, ASAP—NO DELAYS, NO ADD-ONS.”
The Senate passed the legislation in a bipartisan 68-30 vote on Tuesday. The bill now heads to the House, where Republicans hold a slim majority. Supporters argue it will reinforce the US dollar’s dominance in global finance while streamlining payments for businesses and consumers.
Senator Bill Hagerty, who introduced the bill, emphasized its potential to “allow near-instant settlements, eliminating waits that can stretch for days or weeks.”
