Partisan Divide as Arizona Senate Resurrects Bitcoin Reserve Bill

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Arizona’s Senate voted along near-strict party lines (16-14) to revive HB 2324, a GOP-backed bill creating a Bitcoin reserve fund.

The bill, initially rejected in May, was reconsidered after Republican Senator Jane Shamp—who had previously opposed it—filed a motion to bring it back.

Only one Republican, Jake Hoffman, broke ranks to vote against the measure. The bill now heads to the House, where Republicans hold a slim majority. If passed, it would go to Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs, setting up a potential clash over crypto policy.

The legislation is part of a broader push by Arizona Republicans to integrate digital assets into state finances.
