Kraken Just Got a Major EU License

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Kraken just secured a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license through Ireland, giving it the green light to operate across the entire European Economic Area (EEA).

With this approval from Ireland’s Central Bank, Kraken can now expand its services to users in all 30 EEA countries, calling it a “pivotal milestone” for its European growth. The exchange already complies with local regulations in key markets like France, Italy, and Spain.

“This license puts us in a strong position to scale our offerings and bring secure, regulated crypto services to millions more people,” said Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi.

MiCA, the EU’s sweeping crypto regulation, went into full effect last year.
