Standard Chartered Enters Crypto Market with Bitcoin and Ether Trading for Institutions
In a major move for traditional finance, Standard Chartered has launched a cryptocurrency trading service tailored for institutional investors.
The offering, announced Tuesday, enables corporations and large-scale investors to buy and sell Bitcoin and Ether via the bank’s UK-based platform.
The service is fully integrated with Standard Chartered’s FX systems, streamlining crypto access for institutional clients. Custody options include both the bank’s own solutions and third-party providers like Zodia Custody.
“This is a strategic step in bridging traditional and digital finance,” said CEO Bill Winters, signaling the bank’s long-term commitment to crypto.
Initially limited to Asia and Europe trading hours, the bank may expand to near-24/7 access as demand increases.
