SEC Eyes Staking for BlackRock’s Ethereum ETF

The SEC is now reviewing BlackRock’s bid to add staking to its Ethereum ETF.

The regulator just opened public comments on the proposed iShares Ethereum Trust, joining earlier filings from 21Shares and Grayscale. This comes after the SEC hinted in May that some staking might avoid securities classification.

Rex Shares already jumped ahead with the first US staked crypto ETF on July 2. But BlackRock’s move could be the real game-changer—if the SEC reverses its past stance.

The agency approved spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs under Biden but blocked staking. Billions flowed in anyway.
