CFTC Accelerates Crypto Regulation Push Amid White House Policy Shift
The CFTC is ramping up its cryptocurrency oversight with a new “crypto sprint,” responding to the Trump administration’s call for clearer digital asset rules.
Announced Friday by Acting Chair Caroline Pham, the initiative will involve close collaboration with the SEC, including Commissioner Hester Peirce, a well-known crypto advocate.
“President Trump’s vision is clear: America must lead the crypto revolution, and the CFTC is stepping up to make that happen,” Pham declared.
The agency’s efforts follow a White House report with 18 recommendations, two of which directly task the CFTC with defining crypto commodities, refining DeFi registration, and modernizing derivatives rules. The rest require joint action with other financial regulators.
