Bo Hines, the head of the White House’s digital assets advisory council, is leaving his post to re-enter the private sector, according to reports. His deputy, Patrick Witt, is expected to take over the role.

Hines, appointed by President Trump in late 2024, played a key role in connecting crypto industry leaders with policymakers. In April, he said that his office acted as a “sherpa” between the White House, Capitol Hill, and crypto businesses.

Though stepping down, Hines will remain involved as an advisor to AI and Crypto czar David Sacks. On X, he expressed optimism about crypto’s future in the US, writing:

“I look forward to continuing my support for the crypto ecosystem.”

His successor, Witt, has a background in government and a brief political career that included a short-lived congressional run backed by Peter Thiel.
