CFTC Opens Door for US Traders to Return to Foreign Crypto Exchanges

The US derivatives regulator has clarified that Americans can legally trade on foreign cryptocurrency exchanges.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued new guidance stating that non-US platforms have a clear path to serve American clients through existing “foreign board of trade” (FBOT) rules.

The move, hailed by Acting Chair Caroline Pham as a reversal of the previous “regulation by enforcement” strategy, aims to lure crypto trading activity back to the US.

Pham explicitly stated that American companies forced to “set up shop in foreign jurisdictions” now have a way to return, signaling a more industry-friendly stance under the current administration.
