Tether in Talks to Raise $20B at $500B Valuation, Bloomberg Reports

Tether is negotiating with investors to raise as much as $20 billion, which would value the stablecoin issuer at approximately $500 billion, according to a Bloomberg report.

The sources indicated that the deal would involve selling a new equity stake of about 3% in the company, rather than existing shareholders cashing out. If successful, this would place Tether among the most valuable private companies globally.

The report was tempered by a caution that the targets are ambitious and the final outcome may be lower. Tether did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the news follows a recent statement from its US CEO denying any fundraising plans.
