Institutional Hold Steady as Crypto Natives Unwind Leverage, Says JPMorgan

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a potentially bullish signal for market stability, JPMorgan reports that traditional institutions did not fuel last week’s crypto crash. Instead, the correction was triggered by crypto native investors deleveraging their positions in perpetual futures.

The report highlights “little evidence” of selling from Bitcoin ETF holders or users of CME futures, key proxies for institutional and traditional retail activity.

This suggests that the recent volatility was a healthy flushing of excess leverage from the crypto core, rather than a loss of faith from the mainstream.
