Kraken Files to Go Public After $800M Raise
Kraken is riding a wave of crypto companies going public, having confidentially filed for a US IPO after raising $800 million from investors.
According to a source, the filing was made Wednesday, positioning the exchange to follow competitors like Bullish and Gemini Space Station, which listed their shares in recent months.
This boom in crypto-linked listings coincides with a wider resurgence in the US IPO market. The filing was announced on the heels of a major funding round that valued Kraken at $20 billion and saw participation from Citadel Securities.
The 2011-founded platform, a major hub for trading bitcoin and ether, plans to use the new capital for international expansion and to build out its payment services.
