VanEck Launches VanEck Ventures
VanEck, a global investment management firm with over $118 billion in assets under its management, has recently joined the world of venture capital with the launch of VanEck Ventures.
The firm will be looking to raise $30 million for its first fund, focusing on early-stage startups at the intersection of fintech, digital assets, and artificial intelligence.
The fund will be led by former Circle Ventures leaders Wyatt Lonergan and Juan Lopez, who have joined VanEck as general partners.
Lonergan and Lopez both have extensive experience in venture capital, with Lonergan having recently left Circle Ventures after six years and Lopez departing after three years.
The duo has been working quietly since their departure to establish the VanEck Ventures fund, develop their investment strategy, and make their first few investments.
While VanEck has previously made corporate investments in various early-stage companies and funds, this marks their first official venture capital fund.
