HashKey, a cryptocurrency exchange, has received approval from Hong Kong regulators to offer staking services, potentially increasing the institutional appeal of proof-of-stake investments like spot Ether ETFs.

On April 10, HashKey announced that it had secured authorization from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), following regulatory guidance provided to Licensed Virtual Asset Trading Platforms (VATPs) and authorized funds.

HashKey stated it is “one of the first” regulated exchanges in Hong Kong to offer staking services. The approval came after the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) recognized the benefits of staking for enhancing blockchain security and providing regulated returns for investors.
