Crypto Heavyweights Gemini, Coinbase Set to Win EU Licenses Under MiCA

Gemini and Coinbase are gearing up for a major regulatory win in the EU, with licenses under the MiCA framework reportedly imminent.

Per Reuters, Gemini is set to gain approval from Malta, while Coinbase will likely secure its license in Luxembourg—a strategic choice given the country’s fintech-friendly stance.

A Coinbase spokesperson highlighted Luxembourg’s credibility but stopped short of confirming the application.

The approvals would place both exchanges in direct competition with Bybit and Binance, which have already adjusted operations to comply with MiCA. With full implementation due in December, the EU is fast becoming a key battleground for regulated crypto services.
