SEC Invokes “Good Cause” to Accelerate Approval of Generic Crypto ETF Listing Standards

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has approved amended filings from major exchanges—including Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, and Cboe BZX—to establish generic listing standards for crypto-based exchange-traded funds.

The agency justified its “accelerated” approval, waiving the standard 30-day waiting period, citing that the proposals “clarify the definitions set forth in, and the requirements of, the proposed generic listing standards.”

This establishes a formal framework under Rule 14.11(e)(4) for listing Commodity-Based Trust Shares that meet specific requirements, significantly streamlining the process for future crypto ETF applicants.
