Standard Chartered in Talks for Crypto Trading Platform
Standard Chartered may be developing a cryptocurrency prime brokerage platform. This potential venture underscores how traditional banks are progressively building out more comprehensive digital asset offerings.
Citing people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported the bank is exploring the creation of the platform under its SC Ventures arm. The discussions are reportedly in initial phases, with no set timeline for a public launch.
The bank has offered no official statement on the matter. This follows its July 2025 introduction of institutional trading services for major cryptocurrencies.
The reported planning coincides with other major financial institutions advancing their crypto strategies. Investment bank Morgan Stanley made a new filing for an Ether ETF just days ago.
Earlier in May, Bank of America approved four spot Bitcoin ETFs for its wealth management clients, a significant move from one of the largest banks in the US.
