Luno, a London-based cryptocurrency exchange part of Digital Currency Group (DCG), has just announced that it plans to cut 35% of its staff, CNBC reports quoting the company CEO Marcus Swanepoel.

The company, which has offices in Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa, currently employs about 960 people, which means that the cuts will affect over 330 employees.

According to the statement:

“2022 has been an incredibly difficult year for the tech industry in general and the crypto market in particular. Unfortunately, Luno is not immune to the turbulence that has impacted our growth and revenue performance.”

An exchange spokesperson has said that the cuts will barely affect “key operating groups and compliance teams.”
