Bitcoin Exceeds $45K

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Bitcoin has surged beyond $45,000 for the first time in nearly two years, driven by anticipation of the imminent approval of a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).

Starting the year at $42,000, Bitcoin has escalated over 6% in the past 24 hours and an impressive 170% over the last year, surpassing any 2023 prices.

This marks a significant yearly high within just two days of 2024. The current price surge aligns with expectations for the SEC to greenlight one or more of the 14 pending applications for a spot Bitcoin ETF.

The last instance of Bitcoin surpassing $45,000 occurred almost 20 months ago on April 5, 2022, preceding a prolonged bear market that saw Bitcoin plummet to as low as $15,600.
