Wallet with $2B in Bitcoin Seized by DOJ Sends Transaction to Coinbase Prime

Reading Time: < 1 minute

An individual or entity with a wallet containing over 30,174 Bitcoin recently initiated a transaction of 0.001 BTC ($65) with a wallet that is associated with Coinbase Prime.

Only one block confirmation has been received for the transaction so far, but it is common for exchanges to require multiple confirmations before a transaction is considered valid.

The remaining funds from the wallet were sent to another address, likely a change address, indicating that they may still be under the control of the same entity.

However, if this was a test transaction, it is possible that further movements of the funds may occur.

It appears that the $2 billion worth of Bitcoin is linked to funds seized by the Department of Justice from the Silk Road dark web market that is now defunct.
