Tel Aviv, Israel, December 13, 2021CryptoVerses, a revolutionary NFT project that encrypts Bible verses on the blockchain, today announced that a group of four NFTs of Bible verses was purchased for 0.4 Ethereum (over $1,500). Two of the verses deal with the Sabbath year laws, one with Sabbath day observance and one with the prohibition of idolatry.

The verses that speak about the Sabbath year are Exodus 23:10 “And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and gather in the increased thereof,” and Exodus 23:11 “But the seventh year though shalt let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of thy people may eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard and with thy oliveyard.” The verse that deals with Sabbath day observance is Exodus 23:12 “Six days thou shalt do thy work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest; that thine ox and thine ass may have rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.” The verse that speaks about prohibition of idolatry is Exodus 23:13 “And in all things that I have said unto you take ye heed; and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.”

“The laws of the Sabbath year and the Sabbath day are among the first social laws in history. The ban on idolatry is one of the important foundations of Judaism and of the other monotheistic religions,” said Yonatan Bendahan, CryptoVerses’ Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer.

“The NFTs of these verses make it possible to protect them from deletion or alteration, something that is extremely important when it comes to the ancient foundations of modern life,” said Yuval Mey-Raz, CryptoVerses’ Co-Founder and Chief Business Development Officer.

NFT (non-fungible token), one of the hottest trends in the crypto world, is a unique encrypted unit of data stored on the blockchain. It represents items such as photos, paintings, videos, text, audio, and more. The CryptoVerses project uses the Ethereum blockchain, the most widely used platform, to create crypto tokens of the Bible verses. It allows buyers to confirm sole ownership of a particular unique digital crypto versionof a Bible verse and verify the authenticity of this version. In the first stage, the project includes the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. All verses are classified into special collections, based on 45 stories and 536 biblical scenes. NFTs from the collection can be purchased on CryptoVerses’ website via the encryption page at https://cryptoverses.io/encrypt.The NFTs are stored on the Ethereum blockchain network and are tradable through OpenSea NFT marketplace.

Ownership of an NFT that includes a verse from the Bible is not ownership of the Biblical content, since the Bible is public domain. It is ownership of the specific NFT version, similar to a physical item that includes a Bible verse, like a medallion, where the purchaser becomes the owner of the medallion but not the owner of the verse written on it.
