Tom Horton, an independent member of the board of directors of US retailer Walmart, has taken a similar position on the board of the crypto exchange and wallet provider Blockchain.com. According to the announcement:

Blockchain.com CEO Peter Smith has explained the company is strengthening its board of directors ahead of a planned IPO that could happen in the “near to medium term.”

Horton is on the board of directors of General Electric. He was previously chairman of American Airlines and a senior adviser at the private firm Warburg Pincus, whose president is former US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

Marcy Wu, former head of consumer internet banking at Morgan Stanley, also joined the Blockchain.com board in January.
