UK User Falls Victim to a Crypto Scam from a Dating Site

A resident of the UK has fallen victim to a cryptocurrency scammer whom he met on the Internet.

According to the BBC, the man lost about $200 thousand while he was searching for love on the Internet. The story is the following. The user, through a mobile application, met a woman who introduced herself as Gia. The new acquaintance, as part of a conversation with a new friend, told a little about herself, like the fact that she lives in Hong Kong and is engaged in crypto investment.

The potential couple communicated for some time, they even planned a joint future. The woman talked about the benefits of digital assets and that this type of income can make them very rich. At the time of meeting the new “girlfriend” the user already kept some of his savings in Bitcoin, on a crypto wallet.

Later, the woman advised the UK user to use a certain platform for online trading through a mobile application. Trusting his beloved, he invested $200,000 in this application. Instantly, the money disappeared from the balance of the newly opened account.

After the loss of funds, the user immediately turned to his beloved, to a request to explain the situation, Gia replied that she was urgently going to Australia, because her aunt fell ill. After that, the woman stopped communicating. Naturally, the realized that he was the victim of a swindler.
