Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has commented at the Consensus 2022 conference on the information about the investigation of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding the BNB token, CoinDesk reports.
According to him, the company “from time to time” receives various questions from regulators, including from the SEC, and is in constant contact with the authorities.
He has said that the SEC has asked questions about BNB, but the exchange has not received any official subpoenas. Zhao has expressed confidence the token is not a security.
The SEC is reportedly investigating whether the BNB token was a security at the time of its sale in 2017.
