Vitalik Buterin Criticizes Stock-to-Flow Model

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has supported Anthony Sassano, creator of The Daily Gwei, who called on PlanB to delete his account due to the failure of the Stock-to-Flow (S2F) model.

Buterin has said:

“I know it’s impolite to gloat and all that, but I think financial models that give people a false sense of certainty and predestination that number-will-go-up are harmful and deserve all the mockery they get.”

The Ethereum co-founder has added an S2F chart to the post, which shows a significant divergence between the current price of Bitcoin and its expected value, which follows from the model.

Shortly before Buterin’s tweet, PlanB provided an updated version of Stock-to-Flow based on the latest data. He acknowledged both options worked well for three years until March 2022.
