Tether Blocks 161 Wallets Included in US Sanctions List
Tether has blocked 161 addresses from the OFAC SDN list. Out of these, 150 had no balance.
One of the blocked addresses, which contained 3.5 million USDT, was linked to the hacking of the Stake platform by ZachXBT analyst.
Another address with a balance of only 16 cents had withdrawn $400,000 worth of stablecoin from THORChain the day before the block.
Several other blocked addresses held between $20,000 and $60,000. This decision aligns with the company’s new policy of freezing all OFAC-sanctioned addresses.
The objective of these new measures is to safeguard the cryptocurrency ecosystem and provide a secure user experience globally.
According to The Block, some of these wallets hold USDT on different chains, including the Ethereum L2 network.
