Nasdaq’s options exchange has recently put forth a request to American regulators to allow for the trading of options on spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This was revealed through a regulatory filing on August 6.

The proposed rule change from Nasdaq would specifically apply to BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA), the sole Ether ETF listed on their electronic exchange.

Other ETH ETFs are listed on either the New York Stock Exchange’s (NYSE) Arca or Cboe. This development is significant as it brings ETH ETFs one step closer to being widely adopted.

In July, these ETFs were listed and have since seen approximately $1.5 billion in net inflows, according to Morningstar.
