More Than 50% of Validators Support ETH Gas Limit Rise
More than 50% of the validators on the Ethereum network have shown support for increasing the gas limit. This would result in an expansion of the maximum amount of gas allowed per transaction in a single Ethereum block.
On February 4th, Gaslimit.pics reported that 52% of validators were in favor of this change, exceeding the requirement of at least 50% to scale the layer 1 network.
Validators have the ability to adjust their node settings to show support for the increased limit, allowing the network to scale without requiring a hard fork.
According to Ycharts, the Ethereum average gas limit has been approximately 30 million since August 2021, after it was raised from 15 million. Recent data from Blockscout, a block explorer for various blockchains, shows that the gas limit is already increasing, with a transaction at 3 am UTC displaying a limit of over 33 million.
