Coinbase Plans to Launch 24/7 Trading for Bitcoin and Ether Futures in US

On March 10, Coinbase announced its plans to provide 24/7 trading for Bitcoin and Ether futures to residents in the United States. Additionally, the exchange is introducing perpetual futures trading with long-duration expirations.

Coinbase highlighted that a significant portion of the current crypto derivatives market is situated outside the US, forcing American traders to deal with fixed trading hours and contracts that expire, “which can lead to inefficiencies.”

Futures are a type of derivative that involves creating a contract to buy or sell an asset at a predetermined price and date.

If these contracts do not specify a date for buying or selling an asset, they are referred to as perpetual futures, or simply “perpetuals.”
