South Korea Bans 14 Crypto Exchanges on Apple Store

South Korea is taking a firm stance on unregistered crypto exchanges. On April 11, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) announced that it had blocked 14 overseas exchanges from the Apple App Store, including KuCoin and MEXC, for operating without official registration.

A report on April 14 confirmed this ban, labeling these exchanges as unregistered virtual asset service providers (VASPs). The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) plans to continue removing such apps and websites to safeguard users and prevent money laundering.

This action follows a similar crackdown on March 26, when Google Play restricted access to several unregistered crypto platforms, including KuCoin and MEXC. To date, 17 out of 22 flagged exchanges have been removed from Google’s app store.

According to the FSC, these apps are no longer available for download or updates on the Apple Store.
