SEC Drops Investigation Into PayPal’s Stablecoin

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has ended its investigation into PayPal’s dollar-backed stablecoin, PYUSD, without pursuing enforcement action.

PayPal announced the decision in a Tuesday filing, highlighting the closure of another high-profile crypto probe.

The SEC’s Division of Enforcement had issued a subpoena in November 2023, seeking documents related to PYUSD. In February 2025, the SEC informed PayPal that the investigation was closed with no further action.

This development is part of a broader shift at the SEC under President Donald Trump’s administration, which began in January 2025.
