Pakistan is directing 2,000 megawatts of surplus energy toward Bitcoin mining and AI development, with plans to transition operations to renewable sources in a later phase.

The Ministry of Finance and Pakistan Crypto Council are spearheading the effort, which includes tax benefits for AI ventures and duty waivers for miners. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb framed the policy as a dual opportunity for economic growth and responsible energy use.

Foreign investors have reportedly begun scouting partnerships, drawn by the incentives and long-term sustainability roadmap.
