Stablecoin Showdown: Senate’s Final GENIUS Act Vote Set for June 17

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The US Senate is gearing up for a major decision on stablecoin regulation, with a final vote on the GENIUS Act scheduled for June 17.

Senate Democrats confirmed the date in a Thursday update, though the exact time is still to be decided.

The bill, which passed a key procedural vote Wednesday, would require stablecoins to be fully backed by cash or liquid assets, enforce audits for big issuers, and set rules for foreign firms.

Now, all eyes are on next Tuesday’s vote. If the GENIUS Act passes, it heads to the House—where lawmakers are already working on their own version, the STABLE Act.
