Fintech company Ripple Labs acquired a minority stake in the cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp in the first quarter of 2023.

The transaction was mediated by Galaxy Digital, and its terms were not disclosed. Prior to the sale, Pantera Capital had owned a $10 million stake in the crypto exchange since March 2014.

This news of Ripple’s takeover was preceded by their purchase of Metaco, a custodial service enabling them to offer customers tools for the storage, issuance, and settling of tokenized assets.

Similarly, Bitstamp announced the introduction of a large-cap coin lending service targeting Europe, Hong Kong, and the UAE earlier in the month.
