Ripple has received approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority to offer regulated crypto payment services in the Dubai International Financial Centre, becoming the first blockchain-powered payments company licensed by the DFSA.

According to a press release on March 13, the license enables UAE businesses to utilize Ripple’s crypto payment solutions, enhancing the speed and cost-effectiveness of cross-border transactions.

Ripple has been operating in the UAE since 2020, with its regional headquarters in the DIFC. With about 20% of its global clients in the Middle East and a trade sector exceeding $400 billion, the UAE presents a significant opportunity for blockchain-based payment systems.
