Morgan Stanley tokenises US stocks and Treasurys through DTCC infrastructure
Morgan Stanley has begun using the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s (DTCC) new tokenisation service to issue digital representations of US equities and Treasury securities.
The bank is among the first institutions to use the infrastructure, which launched last week. Amy Oldenburg, Morgan Stanley’s head of digital assets strategy, said the process of integrating tokenised securities with existing market infrastructure would help guide the development of the bank’s digital asset capabilities.
DTCC’s Depository Trust Company, which holds $114 trillion in assets under custody, brought 20 financial institutions onto the service at launch. Participants include Bank of America, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Citi, Fidelity Investments, JPMorgan, State Street and UBS. More institutions are expected to join over time.
