French Assembly approves disclosure rules for large private crypto holdings
France’s National Assembly has voted in favour of an amendment requiring taxpayers to declare self-custodied crypto assets worth €100,000 or more. The measure passed on Tuesday by 150 votes to 44, with eight lawmakers abstaining.
Under the proposal, taxpayers would assess the value of their combined holdings at the end of each tax year, on 31 December. The Assembly also voted down a measure that would have exempted gains from crypto purchases of goods and services when annual payments did not exceed €1,000.
Both amendments were considered as part of the 2027 Finance Bill. The proposed reporting obligation is not yet law and must be included in the final version of the legislation. MPs are due to complete their first reading by 17 November, while Senate discussions are scheduled to start on 20 November.
